Christmas and New Year Message for Members from James Dimmack, Chair of Dorset Police Federation.
“I would love to wish all members of Dorset Police Federation a very Happy Christmas.
“This year has without doubt been yet another huge challenge on so many different levels. We have continued to face significant demand seemingly with fewer staff on the front line to absorb this challenge.
“Uplift has been a huge driver which in the future will hopefully have a positive effect on real term numbers.
“The reality now however is that this is short term pain for long term gain as these new recruits are trained and assimilated into the organisation. It has been rightly heralded that Dorset has improved to the 6th safest County in the Country. This is due to the dedication, commitment and determination to get the job done.
“This is a sprit that has never left us in Dorset. I know all too well it has been tested however fundamentally Dorset Police officers do a great job and do it with pride. My hope is we are able to give these officers the rest they deserve and allow them to recharge so they can go again when most needed.
“The officers within Dorset are working to full capacity and should be commended for it. We need to find a way to allow that capacity to drop off to “rest the engine” so to speak.
“My biggest message to all officers is to try to stay safe physically and crucially mentally.
“We need to look after you so you can continue the great work you do looking after all of us. Merry Christmas.”
