Dorset and Hampshire Police Federations meet up to discuss Covid policing, mentoring and Federation Development

Dorset and Hampshire Police Federations met up to discuss Covid policing, mentoring and development of Federation Representatives.

Anna Harvey, Chair of Dorset Federation, met with Zoe Wakefield, Chair of Hampshire Police Federation, and Secretary Garry Smith met this past week.

Zoe, Gary and Anna discussed how both Hampshire and Dorset Police Federations have dealt with creating more flexible hours since COVID in a really positive and helpful way. By altering hours to make officers lives easier if they have children or someone to care for. Which Anna said is a “really forward way of thinking from both forces.”

Another conversation that took precedence and was a useful insight says Anna, was that Hampshire Police offers Will writing. Anna explained that unfortunately since COVID-19 there has been an increase demand of officers looking for advice on Will writing, due to them thinking about their families and taking precautions.

Hampshire have an independent writer who will write and give advice to officers wanting to write their Will, Anna says this is something Dorset will try to introduce.
