Christmas and New Year Message from Dorset Police Federation

Dear Colleagues,

As we draw towards the end of another year, I would just like to take time to reflect on what has been an incredible challenging year for us all.

Many of you have been on your own personal journey with  ups and downs, however you have still managed to deal with this unprecedented year so professionally, often dealing with uncertainty and the risk.

We have lost colleagues and loved ones during the last 12 months, and we have no doubt this has made us all reflect on our own lives and what really matters. The stresses of the ever changing working environment, the financial uncertainty and the effect on well being can not be underestimated.

As your Federation we have continued to ensure your voice is heard at the highest level, we have represented your views and concerns, ensuring that your rights are protected. It is vital that you continue to keep us informed also as we want to achieve a two way channel of communications. This  year we have introduced new services within our group insurance, purchased personal power banks and negotiated additional discounts on your behalf. We have provided small gifts, namely hampers to officers who have been assaulted as a small token to show that we are aware of the impact our job can have on us. We have supported officers and their families with respite breaks, medical equipment and sometimes just a friendly chat over a cuppa.

Next year we want to focus on improving wellbeing facilities working with the force, promoting financial advice and guidance in company with our police family partners and purchasing a small holiday facility for our members.

We hope many of you will have some time over this festive period with your families and loved ones. As a 24/7 service we are always mindful of our colleagues who will be on duty over Christmas and New Year. Please can we ask that you all stay safe and look after each other.
