Christmas and New Year Message from Cumbria Police Federation Chair Ed Russell

Christmas is a difficult time of year for Cumbrian officers.

Increased workloads, long shifts, missed time with family, and sadly often abuse and violence at the hands of those who would run a mile from the responsibility the office of constable demands.

I for one thank each and every one of you for your sacrifices; personal, and professional and hope that the time you do get to spend with family and loves ones over the festive period is drama free and more importantly Q.

In 2026 your local Federation will continue to help and support you any way we can.

I will continue to hold leaders to account, challenging unfairness and encouraging conversation and compromise wherever it is required.

Your Federation remains made up of volunteers made up from serving officers elected by yourselves.
