Cumbria Police held a memorial service to remember fallen colleagues this afternoon.
The memorial which was opened last year is a fitting tribute to our colleagues and an important place to remember their sacrifices.
Chief Constable Rob Carden gave a short speech and following a short silence the service was brought to a close.
Ed Russell, Chair of Cumbria Police Federation, said: “Policing is a difficult career and it is easy to become focussed on the politics… today was a reminder that it is not about that, and nor has it ever been. Policing is about people.
“The Officers of Cumbria Police and the Cumbria Police Federation give our thanks, to those that gave the most. And we remember – as we always will – the families and loved ones they have left behind.”
