Tax relief can be claimed on your Federation subscriptions

From 1 January 2026 Federation subscriptions will be £26.31 per month. However, as a professional subscription, you are entitled to tax relief on this.

After tax relief, the real monthly subscription cost to members is £21.04. As a police officer, you are also entitled to tax relief on flat rate expenses which are currently £140 per year. You can backdate claims for up to four years, which means some members may be able to reclaim several hundred pounds.

You may not be able to ascertain whether you are on the correct tax code by looking at your payslip, so we would always suggest using this link to HMRC to ensure they have the correct information.
