Take part in the Home Office's Frontline Review of policing

23 August 2018

Home Office

The Home Office is giving frontline police officers and police staff the opportunity to have their say on how they think policing could be improved at a national level.

The Home Secretary has commissioned a Frontline Review to seek views on four key themes – wellbeing, professional development, leadership, and innovation - and to set out the next steps to ensure ideas are used to inform change across policing.

Throughout August and September police officers and staff are invited to voice their views under the four themes via Twitter, the College of Policing's POLKA platform and some force-based channels (see the current engagement schedule below). Face-to-face workshops are expected to begin around the country in late October.

The findings from the Review will inform national workforce reform, ensuring frontline officers and staff have the skills, support and management they need to meet the demands of their unique roles.

The Home Office state that the Review will not address pay, resourcing or demand, as separate work is underway, led by the National Police Chiefs' Council and its partners, to explore theses challenges further.

The first discussions are being hosted on POLKA this week with questions in relation to the wellbeing of frontline officers and staff.

POLKA: Officers will need to sign in to POLKA from their work accounts to engage. Discussions will be hosted on the Knowledge Bank Community Discussion page, accessible here after sign in: https://polka.pnn.police.uk/en/Communities/Forum/?clubId=38
