RSA appointed to support the PFEW Independent Review – message from Sir David Normington
04 March 2013
The Police Federation of England and Wales has appointed the Royal Society for the Arts (RSA) to act as the secretariat to the Independent Review. The RSA has a unique reputation for high quality research and innovative practical projects which are both rigorous and completely independent.
Speaking today Sir David Normington GCB, Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales Independent Review, said:
"I am looking forward to chairing this review. I know there has been a lot of speculation about it so today the review’s terms of reference are being published. It is also being announced that the Royal Society for the Arts has been engaged by the Federation to conduct the review and to act as the secretariat. I want to reassure members of the Federation that everyone involved with the review is determined to ensure it is independent, open and transparent. As chairman I have been given no hidden instructions about the review and I wouldn't have accepted them if I had. I am also determined that there will be plenty of opportunity for all those with an interest in the Federation and the officers it represents to give their views to the review. It will take a little time for the review to get underway but when it is we will let you know how you can submit your views in writing or in person."
